CSA PROGRAM MEMBER Code of Etiquette
Our CSA model emphasizes shared risk, shared abundance, free-choice produce, u-pick crops, and member access and participation. At sign-up, members agree to follow the member etiquette below to ensure everyone receives a fair share of the harvest and so that the CSA model is not abused.
Selecting the Correct Share Size: The farm works on an honor system where members share the costs of the growing season with other members based on the number of adults in their household eating from the share. Therefore, members must agree to sign-up for the share that reflects their household size accurately. Members understand that underreporting the number of adults who will be eating from their share, or taking food regularly for people not included in the share they signed up for, is an abuse of the model and harms the farm financially. Produce Quantities: Members understand that their harvest share is meant to provide for what they/their household will use that week. Members understand that the volume of pre-harvested produce is limited by their West County Community Farm tote bag (with the exception of “out-of-bag produce”, u-pick crops, herbs, and flowers, which do not have to fit in the bag).
Produce and U-pick Limits: Members agree to follow any crop limits posted for pre-harvested and u-pick crops. Exceeding these limits, even accidentally, may prevent a fellow member from receiving their share.
Crop Care: Members agree to follow basic u-picking guidelines to ensure the health and happy growth of u-pick crops, flowers and herbs. We will give an orientation at the beginning of the season to show you how!
Body Awareness & Safety: Members understand this is a working farm and agree to follow our Farm Safety Guidelines at all times on the farm.
Pick-up Punctuality: Members agree to gather their pre-harvested produce before the end of harvest pick-up (Tuesdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 2pm). This allows your farmers to wrap up on time after a long day!
Have fun out there! We will go through farm etiquette at orientation for new members at the beginning of each harvest season.
